The Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) is seeking to recruit a candidate for the position of

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in Management and Leadership, tenure track
The position starts on the 1st of January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter for a fixed term of 3-5 years.


Tasks and qualifications

The assistant professor is responsible for research, teaching and development tasks related to the research area of management and leadership. We expect the assistant professor to conduct international level scientific research. We are looking for an applicant whose research has links to one or multiple current focus areas of the faculty (Policy-Relevant Economics and Competitiveness of Economy, Digital Business and Economy, and Sustainable Business and Economy).

The qualification required for the position is a doctoral degree. We expect strong evidence of ability to conduct and publish scientific research and publishing, especially related to management and leadership. We further expect strong evidence of teaching and supervision of theses, procuring research funding and of international networking.

An assistant professor’s duties include teaching at the basic, subject and advanced levels in the field of the position and related developmental tasks. Administrative tasks and other academic responsibilities are also part of an assistant professor’s duties. The assistant professor supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate theses and acquires external funding to maintain a research group.

Salary

Salaries are based on job demands and employees’ performance following the Finnish University Salary System.

In the Assistant Professor position the annual salary range will be approximately 46.000 – 56.000 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. There is a trial period of six months at the start of the period of employment.

3. A numbered list of all scientific publications and other publications showing the applicants ability and merits  
4. A  maximum of five (5) main publications, numbered in accordance with the list of publications
5. A brief description of the applicant’s merits related to research, research leadership,  and research funding, and a research plan related to the position and a vision of how the applicant’s current and future activities will complement those of the department and faculty, and the position being applied for (total of max 4 pages).
6. Portfolio of teaching credits (max. 3 pages).
