Faculty of Technology, Department of Computing invites applications for a fixed-term teaching faculty position:

University Teacher or University Lecturer in Communication and Cyber Security Engineering.

The assignment begins on September 1, 2021 or upon mutual agreement and ends on May 31, 2023.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a position of University Teacher or University Lecturer, depending on the individual qualifications of the applicant.

The field of the position is communication and cyber security engineering, especially cyber security technologies and technical solutions for the networked information society. Primarily, the chosen candidate will be teaching courses in this field at both the Bachelor’s and the Master’s levels. Possible course topics are in digital signal processing as well as sensor and IoT network security and technologies. The person hired for the position will teach, advise theses, and contribute to the planning of teaching and the development of the curriculum. In addition to these duties, conducting research and performing assigned administrative duties are expected.

A successful candidate must have experience and expertise in the field specified for the position. We expect good teaching skills and appreciate experience in managing courses with a large number of students. To be successful, an applicant must be fluent in English (both oral and written).

We appreciate experience in producing educational content in a variety of forms (video lectures, tutorials, online assignments, etc.) and in applying technology and automation for teaching. Further, research contributions in the field of the position are valued.

We expect a genuine interest towards teaching, and excellent communication and interaction skills.

An appropriate doctoral degree, and the ability to provide high-quality teaching based on research and to supervise theses are required of persons selected for the post of University lecturer. When assessing the merits of the applicants for the post of university lecturer, scholarly work, practical expertise in the field in question, if needed, teaching experience and teacher training, the ability to produce study materials, other teaching merits and a teaching demonstration will be taken into account. A person selected for the post of University teacher is required to have an applicable higher university degree and good teaching skills. When assessing the merits of the applicants, extensive competence in the field in question, teacher training, the ability to produce study materials and the ability to provide multifaceted teaching, and a teaching demonstration will be taken into account.

The salary for a university teacher and university lecturer is based on the University salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary is at levels 4-7 on the job demands chart, where the task specific salary component is 2591,28 – 4033,80 euro per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal performance component is a 6% – 50% of the task-specific base salary. The position is subject to a six-month trial period.
