Fuel Gas Supply Systems (FGSS), a product line in Marine Power, is developing, managing, marketing, selling, and delivering complete systems for liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel for ship systems. Our products are the Gas Valve units (GVU), and the LNGPac. The GVU is the engine specific unit for gas pressure control, and safety of the fuel gas feed, and the LNGPac is the ship system for LNG storage, feed, safety, and bunkering. Our customers are a wide variety ranging from LNG carriers to cruise vessels.
We are looking for a Team Leader to our Process Engineering team to support our growing business. Our engineering team is responsible for the installation specific design of units and complete systems as specified in the customer delivery contracts.
In this position you will lead a team of process engineers who are working in several customer delivery project teams. You will ensure that right persons are in the right place with the right skills and coordinate resource management between the various teams and projects. You will also actively develop smarter ways to accomplish the process engineering deliverables by developing and using tools efficiently and more automatically.
The position is located in Vaasa, Finland and will report to the General Manager, LNGPac Engineering.

As a Manager of Process engineering team your work will focus on:

  • Leading as a direct superior the engineers allocated to the Process engineering discipline
  • Technical quality and deliverables of Process Engineering to the delivery projects
  • Planning and developing competence in accordance with the strategic objectives
  • Ensuring that right persons are in the right place, coordinate resource management between the various teams and projects
  • Resource planning and recruiting of additional resources when business demands
  • Ensuring that internal work processes and procedures are continuously developed and followed
  • You will be responsible that internal engineering tools (AutoCad Plant 3d P&ID, Hysys, Matlab, AFT Fathom, Comsol etc) are developed and used in a proper and efficient way
  • Working close with the other team leaders and Manager, LNGPac Engineering to ensure that Engineering deliverables are met in the delivery projects


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • M.Sc. in Chemical, Energy or Process Engineering (Technical)
  • Experience with Engineering and/or Project management in Marine Gas/LNG business
  • Interest and skills in leading people
  • Very good knowledge in Process engineering including process calculations, process equipment specifications, P&ID drafting and process descriptions
  • Gas fuel system and gas engine design knowledge of Wärtsilä brand portfolio is considered as a benefit
  • Familiarity of HAZID, HAZOP and other risk studies
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of marine classification societies, IGF code and maritime rules and regulations
  • Solid knowledge and experience in the marine business, shipyard way of working and with cryogenic and LNG technology/equipment/design
  • Very good English knowledge - both oral and written
  • Ability to work as part of an international team
  • Good cooperation abilities
