We are looking for a Junior UX/UI designer to join our team of designers and branding professionals. The person in this position will report to our Senior Brand Manager and will have a dotted reporting line to the product owner.

The position is initially temporary for a 6 month period, with chance of extension. 

Location:

The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland but other Wärtsilä locations are also considered. 
 
Project information and Position description:
The UI/UX designer will join a team building a digital collaboration portal for customers and internal users. It will be one transparent place with user-centric access to the project data. The aim of the portal is to enable us to be the best in Energy Business to communicate & collaborate with. 
 
The project team is now looking for an innovative UI/UX designer with few years of experience in collaborating with agile software development team. The designer will have opportunity to work with end users, service designer, subject matter experts. The MVP of portal is already in use while the next phase of concept development starts in September 2021. We shall begin with the concept development of new epics. This will be done via virtual and physical workshops in Vaasa (if regulations permit).
 
Responsibilities:

• Design thinking and a user-centric mindset
• Create wireframes and prototypes
• Creative and capable of understanding interaction design principles
• Knowledge of industry tools such as Figma, Sketch and Zeplin
• Work directly with our engineers, delivering them product specs and assets
• Understanding of business metrics and the ability to translate company goals and objectives into digital experiences
• Good communication skill

 
Requirements:

• Design background with an obsessive eye for visual and interaction details
• Experience designing web apps
• Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision

 
Additional skills:

• Basic knowledge of HTML & CSS 
• Excellent grasp of English, both written and spoken
• Other languages seen as advantage
