What matters most in your work life?

Here at Holvi, we work hard because we love what we do and we excel at it. By empowering people to start living for themselves, we’re changing the world of entrepreneurship one small business at a time. But balance doesn’t just happen outside Holvi’s doors. It’s our way of life. We’re looking for talented individuals who want to shape Holvi’s product and culture – and at the end of the day we clock off at a reasonable hour. That’s work life simplified.

Right now, we’re looking for a Security Engineer to join our team!

You'll be working within the Information Security Team

As a Security Engineer at Holvi, you'll help build our Information Security function by defining and running security processes, defend the security of our data and IT assets, enable early detection of threats and vulnerabilities, facilitate swift responses to security incidents, and think of and implement new ways to automate and improve security across the business.

A typical day could see you:

  • Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures for the protection of the organization’s data, systems, and networks
  • Ensuring that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls
  • Responding to system and/or network security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents
  • Conducting testing and scans to identify any vulnerabilities in the network and system and fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard
  • Performing source code reviews and application security testing across Holvi's projects
  • Taking an active role in the change management process
  • Being involved in the design phase of the Software Development Life Cycle, embedding the security architecture principles.

Your home will be in the Information Security Team

We’re not your traditional old-fashioned bank. Quite the opposite, actually. As a modern tech company, our backend applications are built in Python. You can expect no hard-coded or pre-set rules on how to do your job. But you should be ready to challenge existing solutions and create new ones from scratch – together with our Holvians.

Our Information Security Team is small but mighty, and you’ll have the power to influence the security aspect of everything Holvi pushes out to our end users and internal users.

Holvi’s engineers are known for making the impossible possible. Our culture is built on respect and low hierarchy. We have a holistic view on engineering, where all our engineers play an essential role in decision making.

This is for you if you have got:

  • You have 4+ years experience as a Security Engineer
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • You have a proven background in IT security, with an understanding of microservice and cloud architecture security (AWS preferred)
  • You have solid experience of security monitoring, detection, and analysis methodologies and technologies, including: network-based intrusion detection systems, endpoint and extended detection and response solutions, web applications, network firewalls, and SIEM
  • You are experienced in Python, SQL, and shell scripting as well as familiar with static/dynamic code analysis and fuzzing as a way to find security issues
  • You have experiences with networking protocols and APIs.
  • You have a in-depth understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain, OWASP and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • You have an enthusiasm for staying up to date with the very latest updates about security threats and solutions
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and love difficult security challenges
  • You are solution driven and have a pragmatic mindset: you find fast but practical solutions which work for your stakeholders
  • You are fluent in English, both spoken and written

It's a bonus, but not a necessity, if you have experience:

  • You are familiar with statistical methods, data analyses, mostly on unstructured or less structured data
  • You have Computer Forensics Skills
  • You have a good understanding of PCI-DSS, PSD2, GDPR and other compliance and regulatory frameworks

If you have experience working in a FinTech or in the financial sector this is also a plus.

Think you’re a good fit? We’d love to hear from you! Please send us your application via Workable.

P.S. no agencies, direct applications only.

You'll get:

  • The chance to shape this role around what's good for you and Holvi
  • Very flexible working – we care about what you do, not the minutes you work
  • Modern equipment including Macbook Pros and the most up-to-date software – so you can do your best work
  • Opportunity to buy equity in Holvi – we’re investing in our futures, and would love to be in this together

Logistics

  • This role is remote until it is safe to return to the office, then you can continue to work remotely or from one of our offices in Helsinki or Berlin. For fully remote work you can also be located in one of the following countries BE/ES/LT as an employee or work as a freelancer from any other EU/EEA country
  • We offer flexible working hours with core office hours between 10.00 and 15.00 local time
  • Diversity and inclusion is a priority for us – if we want to solve problems for people across Europe, our team has to represent our customers. So we need to attract the best talent and create an environment that supports and includes them
