Job Description
- Develop and evaluate areas of the Linux Kernel and Linux Operating System to provide power and performance optimizations
- Enable new hardware, technology and features
- Troubleshoot code and contribute code back to the Linux Open Source Community.
- Responsible for the device driver model of the Target OS, all driver development except graphics like Linux driver, win driver.
- Architects interfaces for communicating with hardware, crossplatform solutions.
- Responsible for security requirements and design decisions implications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- 5-10+ years' experience with kernel-level code development
- 5+ years' experience with standard software engineering practices for version control, configuration management, testing, root cause analysis, and quality assurance
- Experience in DMA and other techniques for minimizing buffer copies.
- Knowledge of specific type of device driver being implemented, e.g.
- Graphics, Networking, USB, etc.
- Extensively unit tests their implementation.
- Can code to standards and integrate with existing solutions.
- Software development skills (C & C++).
- Ability to analyze network protocols to troubleshoot networking problems and to recognize and develop network performance solutions [TCP, IPv4 and/or IPv6, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)]
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Intel architecture
- Linux Kernel open source development experience, proven development experience with LKML, presenter at key Linux conferences (e.g., Plumber's)
- Preferably Linux Kernel mainline maintainer
- A passion for writing high-quality, well-architected and well-documented code.
- Track record of developing successful products, from inception to delivery.
- Good communication skills.
