These include, for example, social choices, conflicts and collaboration not only at the grassroots level but also in the realms of activism, political institutions and elections and both between states and in a broader international context.

We are now looking for a researcher to join the ENGAGE research project at Tampere University.

Project overview:

The ENGAGE project examines how the EU can effectively and sustainably achieve its strategic foreign policy goals.

The project explores the following themes:

  • analysis of the main contextual challenges facing the EU’s external action, such as the diversification of international relations and questions of acceptability in the eyes of citizens and national decision makers;
  • governance structures and political processes, concepts and indicators;
  • engagement with strategic partners and neighbouring regions, and conflict and crisis scenarios;
  • combining functions that traditionally fall within the remit of internal policy to promote consistent, coherent, sustainable and effective external action;
  • sustainable diplomacy and international collaboration.

The ENGAGE consortium seeks to provide policymakers with recommendations for improving the capacities and capabilities of the EU’s external action.

The project has received Horizon 2020 funding (project 962533) for the years 2021-2024. The project involves 13 research institutions from all over Europe. (Read more: https://www.engage-eu.eu/)
