At the Backbone Network department in Network Services we are responsible for Elisa's backbone network, ranging from network design and implementation to operation and optimisation. The vast majority of all of Elisa’s network traffic passes through networks and elements that is on our responsibility and it is, therefore, imperative that we have a highly skilled and committed team in charge of operating and developing our backbone network.

We are now looking for a Team Manager to our operations team for a full-time, permanent role!

Job description

The responsibility of the team is to monitor, operate and develop Elisa´s backbone network in order to maintain and ensure high quality and availability of services. In addition, the team is responsible of driving the development of automation and tools to secure efficiency and high quality. You will help the team in achieving these targets and harness the team’s senior level experience of operating large scale networks to define and drive the team´s goals. You will create the vision together with the team and through coaching and leadership help the team to succeed in their daily operations.

As a Team Manager you also tend to HR activities and enable the team members' personal competence development. You lead and coach your team members to utilize their full potential and engage them in continuous improvement and learning. As Team manager you are a member of our department’s management team and participate actively in developing the operation of the whole department. You work in close contact with various other teams and stakeholder and represent the team with a win-win attitude to ensure frictionless cooperation.

In order for you to succeed in this role, we expect you to have the following:

• Applicable education (M.Sc. / B.Sc. in Technology or comparable)
• Background and practical experience in IP/MPLS technology
• Experience of managing people
• Development-oriented and forward-looking mindset
• Good communication skills in Finnish and English

In addition, the following are considered as an advantage:

• Experience working with equipment vendors
• Knowledge of network synchronization technologies
• Knowledge of optical networks and technologies
