JOB DESCRIPTION

CIVIT is looking for two full-time engineers to work on our new project CollaboratecCollaboration model for using immersive visual technologies in work machine and creative digital industries”. Collaboratec is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
The project builds a collaboration model through which CIVIT research infrastructure and our know-how of new immersive technologies can be used effectively as part of companies’ development needs. The two engineers will be working in the same team together with other CIVIT experts.

The main goal of the Collaboratec project is to increase CIVIT collaboration in the fields of industrial work machines and creative industry by providing cost-effective proof-of-concept services, and easy-to-use immersive visual technology solutions to competitively produce new products and solutions. To achieve this goal, we are hiring two engineers:
CIVIT Hardware Engineer and CIVIT Software Engineer.

1. CIVIT Hardware Engineer

CIVIT Hardware Engineer will work on hardware development and improving the use of equipment at CIVIT. Various measurement systems will be developed, such as equipping a robot or vehicles with sensors, as well as solutions that require data transmission over a network (5G, etc.). The hardware solutions produced will be available to researchers using CIVIT and can be used to improve the use of the infrastructure.
The Hardware Engineer will also work together with CIVIT partner companies for different pilots, demos, and proof-of-concept services together with other CIVIT Staff.

CIVIT Hardware Engineer will use different measuring devices and developed software to collect data from new types of sensors (e.g., Time-of-Flight camera, point cloud measurements) and setups provided by CIVIT. For example, the CIVIT Hardware Engineer will learn how to operate and utilize the volumetric capture studio that can be used to collect unique multi-camera and sensor data.

The CIVIT Hardware Engineer will collect and develop audio-visual / 3D databases that are suitable, e.g., for the development of machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms in selected target areas.

The applicant should be either finalizing his/her studies or have a master’s degree in a relevant field. Qualification requirements for the Researcher are applicable master’s degree. The exact title of the position depends on the degree of the successful applicant.

Software language (Matlab, Python, or C++) can be used to access and collect data from various devices, such as new imaging sensors. Libraries can be easily and efficiently integrated into other projects where functionality is needed. The software solutions produced will be available to researchers using CIVIT and can be used to further improve the use of the infrastructure.

The Software Engineer will also work together with CIVIT partner companies for different pilots, demos, and proof-of-concept services together with other CIVIT Staff.
