We are now looking for a combustion and CFD expert to join our growing team working for a better future. 
The preferred location for the position is in Vaasa, Finland.  The working location will be our new Smart Technology Hub in Vaskiluoto. You can read more about the premises and ways of working on https://www.smarttechnologyhub.com/

What will you be doing

In this position, your work will include building engine models with OpenFOAM, analysing the combustion process and proposing improvement solutions. With your help, we aim at adapting our engines to the upcoming carbon-free fuels and to produce open-source code in OpenFOAM to return to the public.  For us to be the best match, we expect you to have understanding in combustion modelling and experience from working with OpenFOAM. 

As Combustion and CFD expert, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Build CFD models of engines, including for full cycle simulations.
  • Choose, evaluate and validate the necessary submodels for the simulations. Especially the combustion, spray, turbulence and heat transfer models.
  • Analyse the results of your simulations and propose improvements and innovations.
  • Code the necessary pieces of your study into OpenFOAM.
  • Collaborate, share and communicate your work both internally and publicly when appropriate.

You will shine in this role, when you have:

  • Master of Science degree or above in a relevant fields.
  • Experience with combustion modelling, albeit not necessarily from piston engines.
  • Experience in using OpenFOAM and general object-oriented programming.
  • Have experience in using Cantera or other chemistry solvers.
  • A curious mind, willing to bring up new ideas constantly and to get challenged out of your comfort zone.
