Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls is looking for Application Engineer, Embedded and Extended Controls. We are looking for an Application Engineer, Embedded and Extended Controls with interest in developing automation control systems either in C/C++ or Matlab/Simulink to embedded or edge systems. We develop and maintain embedded engine control systems for all Wartsila engines and to various energy and power control systems using simulated and real targets. Location for this position is Vaasa or Turku, Finland.

Your typical day will include

• Design and implement of our engine control systems with C/C++ or Matlab/Simulink e.g. fuel injection control, charge air pressure control, combustion control
• Design, implementation, testing and verification of new features
• Validating control functionalities in simulated and production engines
• Maintenance and troubleshooting issues in production systems

 
Required Skills

• Master or Bachelor degree in Automation, Computer Science, Process Technology or similar
• Software development skills in C or C++ preferably for embedded systems or development experience using Matlab/Simulink
• Knowledge with agile development practises DevOps, especially continuous integration, automated testing and continuous delivery is a plus
• Good teamworking and communication skills are essential
• Fluency in verbal and written English, our everyday work language is mainly English
• Experience with the following seen as an advantage: Atlassian toolset & Git
• Skills in data science is a plus
