Research assistant / assisting personnel position in fish housing and physiology

The position is located in the Department of Biology, University of Turku, Finland. The Research assistant / assisting personnel will work on an Academy of Finland-funded project “Physiological basis of fish adaptation to freshwater hypoxia: from plasticity to evolution” (led by Dr Amélie Crespel).

As a research assistant in the project, the applicant is expected to take care of the maintenance of the fish populations in the facilities, to control the environmental and housing conditions, to manage the breeding of the fish as well as the rearing of the larvae, and to assist with the ongoing physiological experiments when possible.

The applicants are expected to have completed a relevant degree and to have one or two years of experience in fish breeding and housing. Previous work more specifically on sticklebacks would be appreciated. Interest in fish physiology and laboratory analysis would be considered a benefit. The applicants are expected to have excellent spoken English language skills.

There will be a trial period of 6 months.

The salary for the post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for other university personnel. The salary for the Research Assistant is about 2000 - 2200 euros per month in the beginning of the employment.
