We are now looking for a Senior EHS Manager to join our central Energy EHSS and management systems team working for a better future. In this position you will be developing safety and environmental sustainability in New-build and Energy Services as well as central part of ESO.

Location:

The preferred location for the position is in Finland but also other Wärtsilä locations in Europe are possible. 

About the position:
As a Senior EHS Manager you will have a key role in the development and maintenance of EHS processes, tools and competences in order to achieve our vision in creating a safety culture with a zero injury mindset concerning people and environment.

You will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce EHS risks and coach implementation of the same to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our personnel and stakeholders throughout our operations for the whole lifecycle of our solutions. 

In this position you will be developing safety and environmental sustainability in New-build engine power plants and Energy Services as well as combining these with synergy development with Energy Storage EHS expertise.

An important part of your work is to coach and train our organisation in adapting a safety culture towards a ZeroMindset. You will not be working on this alone, as you will have the support from experienced team members and the whole Wärtsilä EHS community. To be the best match, we expect you to have understanding in EHS management and experience from working with energy infrastructure and/or construction sites.

As an ideal candidate, you have gained experience from the energy industry and have a technical degree from engineering. For you to succeed in the position, we hope you have a coaching and collaborative mindset in order to together with our stakeholders build a successful business and a great customer experience. In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.

Main responsibilities:

  • Drive and promote an EHS safety culture in line with Energy and overall Wärtsilä EHS strategic initiatives 
  • Identify EHS risks and opportunities and facilitate their evaluation
  • Develop, implement and maintain EHS processes, procedures, tools and documentation
  • Create awareness of safety by active cooperation and communication to all major stakeholders
  • Coach, instruct and train the organisation in implementing changes and reaching a safety role model
  • Support and substitute team EHS managers
  • Develop main EHS KPI reporting
  • Act as a lead auditor and audit member in EHS audits
  • Collect and analyse feedback and propose improvement initiatives in order to reach continuous improvement
