The Faculty of Information Technology is currently seeking to recruit a

Post-doctoral Researcher, Information Systems Science

for a fixed-term period of 1 March 2022 (or soon after that) – 28 February 2026

Tasks and qualifications

The Faculty has a long tradition in Information systems science research, especially in information security management, value creation dynamics, information systems development, and software business research. The post-doc position will strengthen the Faculty's research profile in emerging technologies and future work areas. You have the profile that we are looking for if you carry out high-quality international research in information system science and, in particular, methods and tools for the human-oriented, continuous development of information systems and/or sustainable software business. We expect your research results to become visible on the most prestigious publication channels of the field.

You will work in the Empirical Cyber Security and Software Engineering research group. The work is research-oriented but will include teaching and MSc thesis work supervision. The recruited person is also expected to take responsibility for establishing research projects in the area of Information Systems Science and EWIDE-profiling area (https://www.jyu.fi/jsbe/en/research/profiling-area/ewide) and gaining external funding for the research group. Participating in the development of the educational program and administrative duties are natural parts of the post-doctoral work duties.

Post-doctoral researcher is required to have a doctoral degree in the applicable research area. Previous experience and evidence of research related to the position's content are considered an advantage for the applicant. We value an ability to collaborate, high-level publishing, active participation in procuring research funding, and interest in teaching and supervision of master theses and the research work.

The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a Post-doctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. According to Finnish law, a non-native university teaching and research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. In this position, the Post-doctoral Researcher is expected to have excellent skills in the English language.

Salary

The Post-doctoral Researcher's duty-specific part of the salary is determined by the job demand level 5-6 of teaching and research personnel in the general university salary system. Your salary is around 3,300 – 4,400€ a month depending on your qualifications and previous experience. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is the first and largest in its field in Finland. The Mission of the Faculty is to create science-based digital future.
