The Faculty of Information Technology is seeking in the field of Cybersecurity

Doctoral Researcher 
Starting October 1, 2022 (or as agreed) for four years

Tasks and qualifications

As Doctoral Researcher your tasks are to

* Perform high-quality top-international level research (ideas from Professor, Lab, or own ideas)
* Perform scientifically sound and methodological experimentation supporting the research
* Perform paper writing for top-level venues (journals, conferences)
* Perform/assist research paper reviewing and literature/state-of-the-art search
* Perform/assist with other academic life duties (e.g., opportunities for teaching support, grant application support, etc.)

Exact topic to be decided based on the background, experience, and interest of the selected applicant (broad topics: system security | embedded/IoT security | program/binary/firmware analysis/reversing | aviation/maritime/aerospace/satellites | SDR/RF/wireless).

A suitable MSc degree with a technical focus (preferably in Cybersecurity) and interest in studying and completing a doctoral degree in the Faculty of Information Technology is required. Task requires good English skills. Previous experience in research/academic labs, previous publications (in collaboration or standalone), presentation at industrial/hacker conferences, provable contributions to the cybersecurity field - open-source tools/software, open-science datasets, and experience in CVE, vulnerability and exploit research and demonstration are considered as merits. The position is suitable for a beginner doctoral researcher.

The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of doctoral researchers are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations, the Rector's decision on personnel matters, and language skills guidelines. The MSc degree must have been completed before starting the position. The study right for a postgraduate degree required in the position is applied for from the Faculty of Information Technology after selection unless the applicant already has one.

Salary

The salary of a doctoral researcher will be determined in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System.

A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is the first and largest in its field in Finland. The Mission of the Faculty is to create science-based digital future.
