The University of Turku is a world-class multidisciplinary research university which offers interesting challenges and a unique vantage point to national and international research and education.

We are looking for a Doctoral Researcher or Project Researcher in the field of radiochemistry at Turku PET Centre for time period 1.9.2023 – 31.8.2026. The position can be filled for a Doctoral Researcher or Project Researcher according to the background of the applicant.

Turku PET Centre is a joint institution of University of Turku, Åbo Akademi University and Turku University hospital, which is concentrated in research of positron emission tomography as well as PET-radiochemistry and offers imaging services for example to academic research, clinical diagnostics, and drug development.

The Doctoral Researcher or Project Researcher will work in the field radiochemisty as a part of Academy of Finland funded research “Heterogeneously Mediated PET Radiochemistry in 3D-Printed Microfluidic Reactors”. The research will involve work with organic synthesis, material chemistry and radiochemical method development for both fluorine-18 and carbon-11 based PET-tracers.

Eligibility requirement for the position is master’s degree from suitable area (radiochemistry, organic chemistry, chemical engineering) and fluent English language skill. Experience in organic synthesis, catalysis, computer-aided design, 3D-printing and statistical methods relating to design of experiments is an advantage. A Doctoral Researcher must have a study right in the Turku University Doctoral Programme, otherwise the title of a Project Researcher is used.

The planned work will involve some 3-6 month research visits within Finland and Europe.

The salary will be based on the university job demands chart levels 2, where the task-specific salary component is 2182,19 euros per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal performance component is 6 - 50% of the task-specific salary component. 

A six (6) month trial period applies to the position.

Priority is to fill the position from 1.9.2023 onwards.
