We are looking for a Director, Data Protection and Privacy with a main responsibility in leading Wärtsilä Group’s data protection and privacy management, covering i.e. businesses, support functions, corporate, areas and local companies, reporting to the Vice President, Cyber Security. 


The preferred location for this position is in Helsinki, Finland but also Turku and Vaasa are negotiable.


Your role and responsibilities:
 

As a Director, Data Protection and Privacy your role will include:
 

  • Working in close cooperation with Cyber Security, Marine and Energy Units, Corporate and Business Legal Affairs, Sourcing, HR, IM and other key business and support function stakeholders.
  • You will develop, maintain, and update privacy policies and procedures in cooperation with Legal Affairs and other key stakeholders as the company and its products evolve.
  • You will lead and manage Wärtsilä’s Data Protection & Privacy team. You will drive and maintain privacy awareness and privacy best practices and stay up to date on applicable data protection and privacy legislation, select needed tools to identify upcoming changes in laws and monitor development in privacy technologies.
  • Another responsibility is identifying, managing and monitoring Wärtsilä data protection risks and defining metrics to monitor and report Wärtsilä Data Protection Implementation.
     

Requirements for the position:
 

  • M.Sc. or Law background preferred. Work experience in leading data protection, risk management and security
  • Certified Privacy Professional (CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPM) 
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Excellent language skills, fluent English
  • Strong management and reporting capabilities and experience
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities as needed
  • Knowledge of cloud and on-premise infrastructures
  • Strategic thinker and innovative problem solver; skilled in working across diverse teams to accomplish various privacy initiatives 
     

As an ideal candidate you might also have
 

  • Certified in Risk Management (CRISC) and Information Security Management (CISM) (optional)
