Job description
The position is located in Department of Mechanical Engineering, see https://www.aalto.fi/department-of-mechanical-engineering  in the Engineering Design research group.

Mechatronics at Aalto is a broadly defined field within the Engineering Design research focus area.  It involves the systematic integration of mechanics and machine design principals with computer science, materials science, control science and electronics in the scope of design, manufacturing, maintenance and upgrading of mechatronic systems and related services.

The Engineering Design research group envisages becoming a pioneer in applying the possibilities of ICT in mechanical engineering and becoming an internationally renowned unit in the field of rotating machinery, metrology, and experimental research. To actualize this vision, the Department recently established the ARotor Laboratory and Aalto Industrial Internet Campus (AIIC). These initiatives support Aalto’s strategy of emphasizing multidisciplinary co-operation in research and teaching. The professorship strengthens transdisciplinary collaborations, as well as the integration and sharing of creative activities and thinking across different fields of the university.

The Professor will be responsible for leading research and education of design of mechatronic machines at Aalto University. The professor will also advise B.Sc, M.Sc. and D.Sc. students as well as postdocs, and take part in the broader collaborative research and administration in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In addition, during tenure track there is an expectation of establishing long-term partnerships with private and public institutions and engaging in numerous engineering and education research projects.
