The Department of Economics, Accounting and Finance in Oulu Business School is responsible for delivering high quality research and teaching in its focus areas.

We are seeking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Management Accounting and have opened the following position to join our faculty at the Oulu Business School, the Department of Economics, Accounting and Finance:

Postdoctoral Researcher in Management Accounting

A person appointed to Postdoctoral Researcher's position in Management Accounting will be teaching management accounting and management control systems at the undergraduate and Master’s level courses. The person appointed will also supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. Teaching duties and load will be specified in a personal work plan. Teaching will be in English.

The person to be appointed is required to show evidence of a strong research orientation and high-level publication activities as evidenced by the grade of the Ph.D. thesis. Publications in qualified international journals such as those included in Financial Times 50 –list or in ABS4/4* –categories are appreciated. You must also show involvement in national and international research cooperation, participation in acquiring external funding as a part of a research team, and granted external funding for own research. Your research work must be relevant for the position, thereby integrating into the focus research areas of the accounting faculty at the Oulu Business School (see https://www.oulu.fi/oulubusinessschool/accounting).

 

Eligibility

A qualified person is required to have a relevant doctoral degree and ability to teach, supervise and interact in English and operate in a modern university infrastructure within the frame of 1624 working hours/year as specified in the work plan. 

The position is filled for a five-year period, beginning on January 1, 2020. A six-month trial period is applied. 

 

Salary

The salary will be set on levels 5 to 6 of the demand level for teaching and research staff in Finnish universities. In addition to the job-specific salary component, a personal work performance component is also paid amounting to not more than 50 % of the job-specific component.

2.      List of publications classified as follows: (1) articles in international peer-reviewed journals; (2) articles in international peer-reviewed volumes of scientific significance and in peer-reviewed conference proceedings; (3) articles in domestic peer-reviewed journals; (4) articles in domestic peer-reviewed volumes of scientific significance and in domestic peer-reviewed conference proceedings; (5) scientific monographs, and (6) other scientific publications such as articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings with no peer-review process, and publications in university and department series.

3.      Short account in English of significant research merits relevant for the vacancy, and a brief research and action plan (max 3 pages) in English.

4.      In electronic form, a maximum of 10 publications or other works chosen for assessment that the applicant thinks should be taken into account when his or her eligibility and merits are considered.
