VTT – beyond the obvious.

We are seeking for a researcher trainee /M.Sc. thesis student in the area of data analysis technologies in the Big Data Industrial Applications team of VTT.

The required technical competences and skills include:
• Proven experience in understanding novel data analysis methods and techniques. In particularly, regression analysis, unsupervised and supervised learning methodologies (esp. Artificial Neural Networks, Deep Learning and Computational Models) sampling (incl. Monte Carlo and MCMC methods,) statistical inference (Bayesian/frequentist,) estimation techniques (maximum likelihood estimate, maximum a posteriori estimation, expectation maximization, etc.,) and optimization techniques (e.g., cost function, gradient descent, conjugate gradient method, Newton-Raphson method.) Overall, deep knowledge on advanced statistical and mathematical machine learning technologies, especially in Artificial Neural Networks, Deep Learning and Computational Models.
• Proven experience on general software development skills, including requirements, design, implementation and testing
• Very strong knowledge on software tools for programming: C++, Java, Python, Matlab
Non-technical experience and skills:
• Working in international research projects
• Good command of English, written and spoken
