Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is currently seeking to recruit an 

Senior Lecturer, Social Sciences for a fixed-term period from January 1st 2020 until July 31st 2024 

The Senior Lecturer’s position is allocated to the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy. The Senior Lecturer is expected to provide teaching and supervision in the Bachelor and Master’s Programmes of the Department, especially in social and public policy but also in other social sciences. Senior Lecturer is expected to do research and be active in applying for research funding. Senior Lecturer’s research work is expected to connect with the focus areas of the Department, especially with the focus areas of Sustainable societies or Politics and policies of welfare and care. 

The duties and qualification requirements for the position of Senior Lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The selected person is required to have a good command of Finnish language. When considered appropriate, the university may grant exemption from the language proficiency requirements. In this position, the languages of teaching and supervision are Finnish and English. Ability to teach in English is regarded an asset. In addition, good command of various research methods is regarded as a merit. 

The annual salary range will be approximately 38.800 – 64.200 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. 

Six months trial period is applied to the filling of the position.

  2. A CV composed according to good scientific practice and considering, when possible, the template for researcher´s curriculum vitae of the Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity (TENK);
  3. A numbered list of publications covering the applicant’s the scientific and other publications according to the instructions of the Academy of Finland;
  4. Short (2-3 pages) description of the applicant’s research activities and their connection with the focus areas of the Department, other scientific merits and acquisition of external funding,
  5. Short (2-3 pages) description of the applicant’s pedagogical training and teaching merits i.e. teaching portfolio;
  6. Short (2-3 pages) explanation of the applicant’s international activities and experience in societal interaction,
  7. Five most relevant publications in relation to the applied position, which must be numbered according to the list of publications.
