NESC is one of the largest private cloud platforms in the world with 500k cores and 50PB of storage and millions of transactions per day.  We are looking for an experienced cloud software architect to work on the development of the NESC private/hybrid cloud services and to lead our efforts on infrastructure monitoring/operation automation and metrics development on our path towards Google SRE practices.

 

 

We require you to be comfortable with software development languages such as python/Golang, system administration in  Linux and automation frameworks such as Ansible, Terraform.  Knowledge or quick learning in other technologies such as SQL databases, Redis, DNS, monitoring frameworks (Sensu, Logstash)  and familiarity with Openstack, AWS is always positive.  In short we give people great place to work across multiple technology areas and in a large scale operational environment.

 

We value wide experience including:

  • Basic software development skills (golang, python)
  • Experience with Linux & system administration
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (legacy OP5/Nagios, Sensu, metric-based Prometheus)
  • Familiarty with cloud platform (OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarty with Infrastructure as a Code model (CloudFormation, HEAT)
  • Strong, patient customer oriented communication skills
  • Knowledge of network stack (IPv4, IPv6)
  • Understanding of DNS operations
  • Understanding operations at larger scale for zero downtime
  • Familiarty with SQL, Redis and other common database tools
  • Familiarty with ElastAlert and other central logging tools a plus
  • Familiarty with SRE model
  • Readiness for cloud certificates
  • Familiarty with tools such as git, JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint
  • Ability to work independently and part of group
