POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER FOR FIXED-TERM 1.1.2021– 31.12.2021

The vacancy is positioned at the department of Economics in the Turku School of Economics. The department conducts high-quality research in economics and belongs to the leading Finnish educators of economics at all degree levels. In the Turku School of Economics, the department is responsible for the research profile area Economic Policy and Markets.

The duties of the Postdoctoral Researcher comprise independent scientific research in his/hers special area in Economics, and teaching and supervision in degree programs in the field of Economics. The Postdoctoral Researcher participates in the planning of research projects in co-operation with other researchers, and takes part in administrative duties. The duties will be determined based on the competence and expertise of the selected candidate.

By opening the position of Postdoctoral Researcher, we aim to promote the research career of persons who have recently completed their doctoral degree. Person selected for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher shall have an appropriate doctoral degree, successfully completed by the end of the application period, but no more than five (5) years having passed since the completion of the degree. (While counting the five-year period, maternity/paternal leaves and military service will not be taken into account.) The qualification requirements of the position are described in the rules of procedure of the University of Turku.

Person selected for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher is required to have ability to independent research and to give research-based teaching in the field of Economics. Successful applicants have strong research orientation and fluency in English. Applicants with previous experience on teaching of relevant courses and experience on supervision in candidate level are favored.

The salary for the position is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The task specific salary component for the Postdoctoral Researcher is 2 967.84–3460.91 euros per month (according to level 5–6 of the job demands chart). In addition, a personal work performance component will be included in the salary. The personal work performance component is 6– 50% of the task specific salary component.

The position is subject to a six months trial period.
