Job Description We are looking for a Patent Engineer to join the Intellectual Property (IP) Team at one of our larger R&D sites. As a member of the IP-Team you will help strengthen u-blox’s IP position by identifying technologies and product implementations for patenting as well as coordinating and conducting IP clearance for emerging product implementations. The work will involve close liaison with various R&D departments across multiple sites of the company as well as frequent contact with our external patent attorneys. The role can be located at our headquarters in Switzerland (Thalwil), in Finland (Espoo, Tampere), Sweden (Malmo) or Greece (Athens). Your Responsibilities
Closely follow R&D and product development to identify business relevant inventions in collaboration with engineers and project managers Evaluate and process invention disclosures, perform prior art search, facilitate drafting and filing with external attorneys Coordinate worldwide patent prosecution with local attorneys Undertake Freedom-to-Operate investigations, counsel stakeholders to mitigate IP risks Ensure strategic alignment of patent activities with technology roadmap and product strategy, organize and lead regular portfolio reviews Support in litigation and licensing, in particular related to standard essential patents
Your Skills and Experience
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical fields with experience in satellite navigation, signal processing or wireless communication Several years of professional experience in a similar role (Partial) qualification as European Patent Attorney advantageous, other trainings or qualifications in IP are beneficial as well Exposure to standard essential patents would be considered a bonus Fluent in English (written and spoken) Solution-oriented problem solving with a sense for business and excellent interpersonal communication
