DescriptionAs a Technical Writer at u-blox you work closely with R&D, marketing and application engineering departments to create world class customer documentation for products based on u-blox positioning technology.
You are supporting content owners in creating, developing and maintaining technical customer documentation for our market-leading products that enable positioning technology in automotive, industrial and consumer applications.
This includes product summaries, user guides, integration manuals, data sheets, protocol specifications and similar documents.
You have ownership of the language and terminology correctness used in the documentation and ensure that content and illustrations are up-to-date and according to corporate guidelines.
Additionally, this role requires developing and improving our procedures and processes regarding documentation creation and maintenance as well as our authoring and content creation tools.

- Structure and integrate complex information in technical documentation accessible to the target audience
- Responsible for guiding and supporting subject matter experts in providing technical content and suggest best practices and optimizations
- Ownership of the language and terminology correctness used in the documentation
- Support integrating user-friendly content in illustrations, graphs, block schematics for enhanced user experience
- Support and coordinate the review and release process
- Create and publish the final version of the approved documentation and information to the defined channels (website, online document repositories, internal document repositories..)
- Continuously evaluate existing content, reuse and develop innovative approaches for improvement
- Assist in planning, scheduling and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables
- Responsible of the documentation toolchain. Explore suitable technical solutions and in agreement with the documentation control board, develop and implement changes to facilitate content providers
Secondary Tasks and Responsibilities
- In cooperation with business marketing, assure the documentation is in line with the company’s corporate identity and maintain the company-wide documentation Style Guide, glossary and terminology lists
- Develop and improve procedures and processes regarding documentation in collaboration with the business marketing department and technical writers of the other product centers
- Gather feedback on documentation to improve quality usability
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technical writing, related field, or comparable job experience
- 5+ years as a technical writer, editor, or content strategist, with a focus on software or workflow applications
- Experience writing in a structured authoring environment such as DITA/XML and single sourcing
- Proficiency with industry-standard authoring and content creation tools (e.g. DITA Open Toolkit, Oxygen XML, XMetaL,..)
- Knowledge of lifecycle tools (e.g. GitLab), collaboration software (e.g. JIRA, Confluence etc.) and version control systems (e.g. SVN, Git, Perforce, etc.)
- Ability to research, develop, write, and edit effective content with a focus on the intended audience, clearly communicating complex technical topics to customers
- Experience working directly with engineers and other technical subject matter experts
- Strong bias for action, being proactive, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-paced, and ever-changing situations and assignments
- Fluent in English and skilled in editing in English
Knowledge/experience in the following areas is an advantage:
- Working directly with global development teams
- Working in an agile content development environment
- Experience managing content projects, including coordinating with other teams
- Familiarity with positioning (GNSS) technology and ability to understand relevant technical concepts
- Track record of improving processes and tools, contributing to the effectiveness of the program and operational efficiency
