Wärtsilä global IM (Information Management) integrates Processes, Systems and Information, supporting Wärtsilä’s businesses in developing the operations. We are looking for a Technical Lead, Global Customer Portal solutions. Wärtsilä offers a lot of challenges and growth potential for people passionate about supporting business with world-class solutions. In the Technical Lead position, you will lead the design and development and support our new global customer portal solution. The global customer portal is a digital commerce solution catering to technical information, content and commerce enablers for our customers. The solution will be renewed and built on AWS and Salesforce platforms.

 

In the Technical Lead position, you are part of the DEVOPS team leading the design and development work, continuously enhancing and extending the solution to fit the business needs, establishing the technical direction, defining and overseeing the deployment process and technical deployments, taking a role as lead developer, reviewing code, and guiding technical team members with troubleshooting issues when needed. 


Ideal candidates can manage his/her own responsibility area independently and cooperate well with solution managers, architects, developers and business stakeholders. A good understanding of the end users and global business processes helps to succeed in this role, but the right attitude and sound technical skills are a must.

This is a global position with the possibility of partial remote work, but preferred locations for this permanent position are Helsinki, Turku, or Vaasa in Finland or within a similar time zone.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as the Technical Lead of the global customer portal solutions
  • Manage and be responsible for technical design and development of the global customer portal solution(s). Create sustainable designs that fit overall architecture and data models that support business use cases and conduct comprehensive assessments to develop solutions
  • Define and oversee the deployment process and secure technical deployments
  • Hands-on work in agile DevOps teams enhancing and optimising global customer portal platform apps. Take lead developer role in the related teams (often work in different areas at the same time) 
  • Manage, support, consult in related development initiatives, share good practices  
  • Manage the development process documentation in your own area
  • Work in closed cooperation with the surrounding team, partners and business stakeholders 

 

Qualification and Skills:

 

  • Education: B.Sc or equivalent in IT or engineering domain 
  • Strong record of designing and developing complex and large technical solutions and acting as a technical lead
  • Strong technical hands-on knowledge and competence of the AWS platform, UI/UX technologies and Force.com 
  • Knowledge of APIs and Integrations
  • Software engineering skills (coding, data-model/architectural mindset, turning requirements to technical designs, configuration, usability, testing) 
  • Proactive independent way of working, development-minded and goal-focused attitude to work, so you can fill the role in the development teams needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, collaboration and change management skills. Takes role as a technical lead and lead developer in IM for business stakeholders and in projects
  • Understanding Customer Portal/Commerce solutions and business processes is considered an advantage
  • Can setup and optimise DevOps (CI/CD) process for smooth development of the Global Customer Portal
  • Understanding of UI Technologies (such as React) and/or SAP is considered an advantage
  • Fluent written and spoken English
