Description

About the role 
We are looking for a Business Developer to join our Strategic Development team in the Hydro Generation organization. Becoming our Business Developer, your main mission will be driving strategic projects and developing the Fortum hydropower portfolio to create value in the long term and align with future system and market needs.

 

As a Business Developer, you will be responsible for: 

  • Assessing the hydro fleet’s capabilities and potential to identify and propose improvements related to flexibility and market performance.
  • Developing business cases and investment proposals for new projects that leverage the hydro assets 
  • Acting as a point of contact and coordinator between Hydro and Corporate Customer and Markets (CCM) to align market and customer needs with hydro strategies  
  • Coordinate our development project portfolio, including e.g. digitalization, flexibility and sustainability development projects
  • Drive strategic and cross-functional projects within Hydro and with other business units
  • Staying updated on market changes and new technologies and translating them into opportunities for the hydro business 

 

This will involve close collaboration with senior team members and key functions within Hydro and other divisions in Fortum. The work will vary from short-term assignments to long-term projects and investigations in the area of developing our Hydro fleet.

 

About You
Some of the qualifications we are looking for in the recruitment are: 

  • Master of Engineering or Business 
  • Some years of experience working with the energy market or in a corresponding role in the energy industry
  • Skills in managing projects and engaging stakeholders 
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience in hydropower is a plus 

 

Personal qualifications:

You have a thorough understanding of the energy market in the Nordic region. You are proactive and able to have a helicopter view of strategic development and understand a little bit of everything in a short period of time. You should have a strategic mindset and be able to understand how development projects fit into the bigger picture. You should also have change management skills such as the ability to build trust in senior experts and drive change as well as excellent presentation skills.
