Description
We are now looking for
three university trainees
to join us in the Environmental and Chemical Engineering research unit at the Faculty of Technology.
Traineeship must be part of your studies.
Position 1
Study existing pilot-scale and industrial scale CCU implementation processes that include the purification of the flue gas stream, the catalytic reactor, and the purification of product stream.
Write a literature review of C1-chemicals production pathways, CO2 hydrogenation feed requirements, and CO2 hydrogenation reactor types. Plan and model (the internship will preferably include process modeling with AutoCAD, Aspen+ or COMSOL Multiphysics) innovative solutions that enable the conversion of CO2 into products, such as methanol or methane.
Requirements: Fluent spoken and written English language. Modelling experience is considered as an advantage, but not necessary.

Position 2
The tasks include a variety of laboratory experiments, related to water treatment with activated hydrochars and calculation of adsorption isotherms and kinetic models. It includes optimization of parameters, such as pH, adsorbent dosage, and pollutant concentration. Calculation of adsorption isotherms (Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin-Radushkevich) and kinetic models (Pseudo first order, Pseudo second order, and Elovich) must be done. Also, regeneration and recyclability experiments of the used activated hydrochar will be done.
Previous experience in lab work and knowledge of isotherms and kinetic models is a benefit but not necessary.

Position 3
Laboratory documentation e.g., to ensure the presence of MSDS/SDS for each chemicals in the inventory.

Salary
Duration of the traineeship: 1.5.-30.6.2026
The salary in the position is 1687,47€ /month. Trial period in accordance with the collective agreement of the Finnish universities is applied to the position.
