Media Relations Manager

Are you the forward-minded team player we are looking for? 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Media Relations Manager to join Valmet’s Communications and Brand team. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering our external communications strategy, enhancing our brand presence, and ensuring impactful messaging across all channels.

The preferred location of this position is at Valmet´s head office in Espoo, Finland. In this position you will report to the Director of External Communications.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Announcements and releases management: Collaborate with our business areas and other stakeholders to manage and execute announcements and press releases, ensuring timely, engaging and accurate dissemination of information.

  • Media relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships for Valmet and key media internationally to grow positive coverage of our company, our business and industry. You will organize media engagements, press conferences and briefings and work with PR agencies to craft and disseminate compelling stories about Valmet on a global scale.

  • Media monitoring, analysis and development: Owning our media monitoring, you will develop our measuring and KPIs, and through analysis of our coverage, provide insights for further development

  • Media training: Organize and conduct media training for company spokespeople to ensure effective communication

  • Crisis communications: Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate potential issues and crisis situations.

Qualifications:

We are looking for an energetic, efficient and reliable communications professional, who is eager to take initiative and ownership. You are comfortable in moving across strategic planning and hands-on execution of various communication tasks. To be successful in this position, you need the following skills:

  • Proven track record of 5-10 years in global external communications, media relations and public relations in a similar environment.

  • Experience in listed company communications as well as industrial and technology environment is considered an asset.

  • University degree in communications, marketing or another relevant field.

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Fluent English and Finnish language skills
