KONE Purchasing Organization (KPO) supports all KONE business functions and business lines in ensuring a competitive, innovative, and suitable supply of products and services for their needs. The Global Indirect Purchasing Team defines and implements purchasing roadmaps, manages global suppliers, and handles tactical purchasing activities in cooperation with relevant business functions.  

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated  Purchasing Manager, Subcontracted engineering to join our team! 

As Purchasing Manager, you will collaborate closely with KONE’s Technologies and Innovation (R&D) and Supply Chain teams. Your primary responsibility will be managing subcontracted engineering purchases, mainly within hardware engineering (external engineering workforce and services). In addition, you will lead purchasing for relevant engineering software and ICT tooling. The exact scope may be adjusted based on your profile and experience. 

You will be part of KONE’s ICT and Engineering purchasing team and report to the Head of IT & R&D Purchasing. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with Global category manager, key stakeholders and management teams of other functions to align purchasing strategies with broader organizational goals and execute on those 
  • Run RfX to identify and select the suppliers and partners for selected domains 
  • Lead the negotiation and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-efficiency and high-quality services 
  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers and lead governance meetings for selected key accounts, involving C-level stakeholders.  
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and market dynamics to make informed decisions. 
  • Implement sustainable purchasing practices to align with our corporate responsibility initiatives. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. 

To succeed in this role   

  • You have vast experience in managing purchasing projects with proof of leading negotiations successfully in good collaboration with various business stakeholders across organization  
  • You are a collaborator by nature with excellent stakeholder and supplier relationship management skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, multicultural and global environment  
  • You possess a strong commercial and business-oriented mindset  
  • You have good understanding of both engineering (workforce) and ICT (software and services) category characteristics and would enjoy working in a cross-category landscape.  

The desired candidate will have  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in running purchasing projects with demonstrated successful outcomes  
  • Experience in working with senior mgmt. and executives 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Strong project mgmt. / coordination skills with capability to run many things in parallel 
  • Excellent skills in using MS Office tools, being digitally native/oriented is an asset 
  • Data driven mindset with ability to crunch and visualize data and to simplify complexities 
  • Can do attitude and proactive ways of working 
  • Passion for success and continuous learning  
  • Fluent English in spoken and written 
  • Experience in being part purchasing and business transformation programs is seen as an asset 

What we will offer    

Location: The position is based in Espoo, Finland. We offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work remotely. However, as most of your key stakeholders are located at Hyvinkää R&D facilities, regular on-site presence (1–2 days per week) at the Hyvinkää office is required to ensure effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
