We are now looking for
2-3 Research Assistants
to join us in the unit of Teacher education, school and society at the Faculty of Education and Psychology for part-time (25% - 50%) positions for two months.
The unit of Teacher education, school and society (TESS) researches the societal contexts of education, schools, teacher education and teaching, and trains teachers for basic education, secondary education and higher education.
About the job
Our research project, titled "Linguistic distance, language learning, and educational attainment," aims to investigate the effect of linguistic distance on educational performance and understand what makes students successful English learners in primary school. Your key tasks include supporting the analysis of written English data produced by 4th-grade students in Finland, Norway, and Germany, and finalizing the project's data handbook.

Who are you?
In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect from you:
- Finnish or German as a native language or native–like proficiency (comparable to C1)
- Advanced English skills (comparable to C1)
- Completed bachelor's degree or equivalent level of studies in education, psychology, or humanities
- Experience in working with written assessments
We also appreciate:
- German knowledge
- Norwegian or Swedish as a native language or native–like proficiency (comparable to C1)
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge of SPSS
Salary
The positions are part-time (25% - 50%) for two months starting in February - March 2026 (or as agreed).
The salary will be based on the level 3 of the demand level chart for other expert and support staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary for a part-time (25%) position will be approx. 550-600 EUR per month (before taxes). A trial period, as outlined in the general collective agreement for universities, is applied for the position.
