We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on engineering leader to join our Horizontal Mills Product Group as Director - Product Engineering.

In this key leadership role, you’ll guide a multi-disciplinary team across mechanical, electrical, and product technical support functions, driving engineering excellence and innovation across our global product line.

Working collaboratively with our global engineering network, manufacturing teams, and product management, you’ll ensure Metso’s horizontal mill products continue to meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance throughout their lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and guiding teams through change and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the product engineering strategy aligned with product and business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to shape product roadmaps and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Implement best practice in product design and technical support, including productization, standardization, design-to-cost, and design-for-service.
  • Oversee technical specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership in critical warranty and reliability cases, applying structured root cause analysis and problem-solving approaches.
  • Support front-end sales and customer engagements through technical presentations and consultation.
  • Author and contribute to technical papers and thought leadership within the industry.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) – essential.
  • Proven experience in engineering leadership within a heavy industrial, mining, or capital equipment environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and drive performance across technical functions.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance innovation, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Confident communicator who can engage with both technical teams and customers.
  • Familiarity with horizontal mills or comminution equipment advantageous, but not essential.
