ABOUT THE ROLE  

We want to transform how tens of millions of people work in customer service. So, we need a team of world-class talent. As a Machine Learning Engineer at Ultimate.ai, you’re at the heart of our ambitious growth plans. You’ll be an integral part of the Company from Day 1.

The core of your role is designing and developing our machine learning system, which drives our conversational software. You’ll be foundational in applying and iterating the latest research in machine learning, deep learning and NLP. The goal: to build the world’s best customer service automation platform, which empowers businesses to deliver exceptional customer experiences at scale and in all languages. 

You will brainstorm and build with our AI, product and engineering teams. You are naturally analytical and confidently develop and improve complex neural network architectures. Growth, innovation, and tough problems excite you. You are driven by deploying AI technologies to solve real world problems and keep abreast of developments in the field. Finally, you thrive in an agile and creative environment and can work closely with all cross-functional teams to achieve your goals. 

Key responsibilities:

• Maintaining and developing our core AI technologies which support millions of conversations every month, using Python, Scipy and TensorFlow.
• Enhance the performance and capabilities of our core NLP.
• Explore, experiment and deploy advanced capabilities: such as deep learning, NLP and NLG, context management, new data pipelines and autonomous learning through feedback loops.
• Designing and conducting experiments that bring us closer to our vision.
• Staying abreast of the latest research literature and bringing relevant insights back to the product.
• Working closely with all members of the team to build, test and iterate quickly, with direct guidance from our Chief Science Officer.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone passionate about finding logical solutions to complex problems, who has a deep interest in machine learning and is comfortable with the mathematics behind it. At Ultimate.ai we are pushing the boundaries in what applied conversational AI can do, and so we need all hands on deck. You enjoy brainstorming with teammates to discover innovative solutions to build and iterate rapidly. 

Ideal qualifications:

• Quantitative or technical degree, e.g. Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc. 
• 4+ years’ experience writing robust code and unit tests for live production systems and working with large datasets
• 2+ years’ of relevant experience in building large scale machine learning or deep learning models in Python, Tensorflow (or other deep learning frameworks) and Python’s data stack (NumPy, SKLearn, Pandas, etc).
• You have experience building complex neural network architectures and are on good terms with natural language processing. Unsupervised and semi-supervised learning skills are highly appreciated as is experience on serving neural networks in real life production environments.
• You are able to implement ideas from research literature into your models. 
• Huge bonus if you have experience shipping conversational AI solutions.
• Positive, pro-active team player who is passionate about their craft, is keen to take part in product discussions and cares about helping the team deliver.
• Good communication skills, high proficiency in English.
