Junior group leader positions (Collegium Researchers, max. 5 positions) in Science and Medicine

The Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine (TCSM) is supported by the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine. The aim of TCSM is to establish a multidisciplinary, interactive research platform for dynamic scientists in science and medicine. Research at TCSM includes studies in the fields of science (astronomy, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, geology, geography, information technology, mathematics, physics, statistics etc.) and medicine and health sciences (biomedicine, dentistry, nursing science, clinical medicine etc.).

The Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine (TCSM) is seeking a maximum of five ambitious early career researchers to start independent research work at one of the departments at the University of Turku, including Turku School of Economics.  The positions are funded for three-year periods with the possibility to apply for an extension of two years. Successful applicants may begin their employment on 1.8.2020 at the earliest, 1.1.2021 at the latest.

The candidates considered must have outstanding potential and established excellence in research. An optimal candidate has received their doctoral degree certificate a minimum of three years and a maximum of nine years before the submission deadline for applications. Not included in the net period of nine years are maternity leaves, parental leaves, military service, etc.  Particular attention will be paid to the quality of the candidate’s research proposal and their international research experience (significant post-doctoral research conducted abroad is essential).

The salary offered is determined in accordance with the University salary system for teaching and research personnel.  The salary for Junior Group Leader positions corresponds to requirement level 7 and the pre-estimated personal performance percentage of 17% (euro-dominated salary 4617.41 €/ month). Progress in the researcher's personal performance can be taken into account when determining the salary during employment.
