KONE Elevator Factory is an elevator design, manufacturing and distribution unit located in Hyvinkää, Finland. It is a part of global KONE Manufacturing Network and Supply Unit’s organization.

KONE Elevator Factory supplies special elevator solutions to a variety of end-users worldwide, including office buildings, hotels, hospitals, and larger projects, such as cruisers and airports. 

As we are preparing for our current Factory Manager to retire in the beginning of 2020 we are now looking for a

Production manager / Factory Manager

to take over the role and lead/develop the factory operations to the next level.

As a factory manager you will be responsible for the manufacturing operations in the elevator motor factory and you will lead your own team of experts to ensure smooth production, on time deliveries, superior quality, optimal product costs,  productivity improvements and continuous development by using e.g. LEAN methodology. You will make sure that sophisticated projects fulfil the customer requirements and proceed fluently through different phases of the production.

In addition to making sure we keep up the good level of quality, efficiency and automation that has already been achieved we are looking for some one who is willing and able to really focus on driving the needed changes and improving efficiency through digitalization. You will need to be able to influence people and develop the culture within your team alongside new working methods.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, evaluate, and develop factory personnel to improve competencies in order to ensure their work meets established targets and standards
  • Implement all the actions required in accordance with the targets in the manufacturing area to reach the yearly, monthly and weekly goals respecting the requirements for Safety, Quality, Punctuality and Costs
  • Lead operations planning, budgeting and forecasting activities together with colleagues and own team
  • Manage factory operations process development, monitor industry trends and developments in manufacturing technology; evaluate and recommend investments in equipment, systems or other assets that will improve the organization’s manufacturing capabilities
  • Work actively with all the teams to create a culture of continuous improvement in manufacturing, material management, safety, quality and industrial engineering
  • Maintain strong connections and network with other colleagues within KONE to share best practices

Skills, Education and Experience

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, e.g. machinery, mechanics, automation or industrial engineering and management
  • Team player skills and proven leadership capabilities with good customer service mindset and good collaboration and communication skills
  • Several years of experience in production role in similar type of position or other leadership role with proven track record
  • Experience of automation usage and implementation, as well as experience of robotics is an asset
  • Fluent English and Finnish language skills
