Done and dusted – and off to a new project site on the other side of the world! Are you our new Installation Supervisor who makes things happen?

We are now looking for a Mechanical Supervisor to work on our Airborne Pulp Dryer and related systems’ installations in projects around the world. Our projects are both deliveries of new plants as well as rebuilds of existing plants, and the scope of our deliveries varies from single equipment projects to delivery of complete plants on turn key basis.

As an Installation Supervisor you will coordinate and supervise the day-to-day on-site operations of your responsibility area to ensure our delivery is on time and in budget and meets our standards regarding quality and HSE. In practice this means leading and managing our diverse range of subcontractors. You will plan work methods, usage of equipment and resources, logistics and scheduling, as well as monitor the actual installation work to ensure it is done according to plans and progressing smoothly. You will coordinate the work of our several service providers and maintain regular communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

The task will surely include some troubleshooting and putting out fires, but the foundation is on a methodical and systematic way of working. You will arrange regular safety checks on site, maintain strict quality control procedures and document your work through reporting, check sheets, measurement records etc. You will also provide feedback to engineering to improve our equipment and operations in the long run.

This position is based on international assignments lasting normally from 6 to 12 months. You will have regular home trips, and between assignments you will do planning work at the office. On most sites you will work together with a team of other Valmet supervisors lead by a Site Manager. Based on your experience and interests, we would be happy to extend the role to cover also the commissioning and start-up phase, as well as other Valmet equipment.

Expectations

You should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a suitable technical field such as process automation or mechanical engineering. We also require some experience from process industry installations and sites. Good command of English is essential and other language skills are an asset. You are familiar working with equipment specifications, standards, engineering documentation (manuals, drawings) and special installation requirements.

To be successful in this position you should be systematic, self-driven and motivated by achieving targets, as you will work quite independently in a hectic and changing environment. You are at your best under pressure and keep your focus on delivering results to our customer. You can make informed decisions on sometimes incomplete information without losing your sleep. Good interpersonal skills are essential to build good relationships with different stakeholders and to lead the subcontractors in a positive way.

We offer

In this position you will get to see up close and personal how drawings transform into working machines, and you will learn more than you ever could behind the desk. Even though working in the frontline you will get the full support of an experienced professional team in the home office.

That feeling when a machine the size of a football field comes alive!
