Wärtsilä Shared Service Center (WSSC) supports the Wärtsilä companies in financial accounting or other operational tasks and acts as a gatekeeper to ensure compliance. WSSC is striving for harmonized one global Wärtsilä way of working worldwide with high quality, timely, effective and efficient processes. WSSC is sharing best practices and knowledge with focus on continuous development and operational excellence. Wärtsilä Shared Service Center is looking for a Senior Accountant to join Payments team.

Location information:

The location for the position is Vaasa, Finland and the position is temporary.

Main responsibilities:

  • Creating payment proposals of domestic and foreign purchase / travel invoices
  • Ensuring correctness of the payment proposals based on the company and local country specific regulations
  • Executing payment runs and downloading the payment files to the local servers or to Treasury (In House Cash -payments) depending on the type of the payment
  • Ensuring that direct debit intragroup companies globally will receive the money against due sales invoices
  • Assisting companies and WSSC Accountants in questions related to payment handling process
  • Booking daily incoming customer payments from bank statements to correct customer accounts and against correct invoices
  • Solving unclear customer payments in cooperation with businesses
  • Making corrections and clearings according to businesses requests
  • Period end activities related to accounts receivable and payment handling
  • Providing reports to company controllers
  • Other tasks requested by superior
  • Developing and harmonizing payment handling and accounts receivable activities to reach the most effective way of working to process incoming payments within the agreed time limit (including the use of SAP system)
  • Improving the process by effective and active teamwork
  • Participating in development projects related to improve / optimize accounts receivable and payment handling activities
  • Developing and maintaining own competencies in line with responsibilities and accountabilities

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Business Economics or similar
  • Advanced English, other languages are seen as advantage
  • Experience of working in Shared Service Center 
  • Relevant experience in accounting is seen as advantage
  • Understanding and expertise in SAP FI module, SwiftNet, In-House Cash payment process and Cash Management
  • Open-minded and agile personality
  • Flexibility and good team working skills
  • Positive attitude and pro-active thinking
