A fully funded PhD student position is available at the lighting research group, Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto University.

We are looking for a talented doctoral student to develop and apply sustainable and adaptable smart lighting on living environments. This involves the participatory data collection and analysis from the uses and users of urban space utilizing a variety of digital tools.

Our target is that the candidate will acquire the doctoral degree in four years. This fulltime position is immediately available. The salary is based on the university salary scheme. The contract includes occupational health benefits and Finland has a comprehensive social security system.

Qualification

The applicant should have MSc degree or equivalent in a relevant field (eg. electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer science), or be a M.Sc. student in a final phase of their studies. The candidate should have strong analytical and writing skills in English, and experience or genuine interest in illumination engineering.  The candidate should have basic knowledge on illumination engineering, lighting design, 3D modelling, statistical analysis and be eager to execute experimental field work.

The successful candidate should be highly motivated, creative and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
