Description of position:

We are seeking a motivated individual for a genetic toxicology scientist in the Investigative Toxicology & ADME group within Research & Development. Your primary responsibility is to act as genetic toxicology expert in all phases of drug discovery and development. You will design and implement genotoxicology testing and assessment strategies both in lead optimization to support the nomination of Orion's small molecule and biologics drug candidates as well as in drug development phase. You will also work as a safety expert in multidisciplinary early drug discovery project teams. In that position you will support projects, by collecting and interpreting complex data from various in vitro safety and toxicology profiling and screening assays, document and communicate results to aid in lead series prioritization, lead optimization and drug candidate selection. You will provide scientific oversight for regulatory non-clinical genetic toxicology studies conducted in contract research organizations (CROs). A part of your job is contributing to regulatory submissions and interactions with regulatory authorities.

The position level is dependent upon the candidate's level of experience. The location will be in Espoo or Turku, Finland.

Requirements

You are expected to have:

  • MSc/PhD in toxicology, biochemistry, pharmacology or related sciences with preferably at least 5 years of experience in the field of genetic toxicology or non-clinical safety with deep understanding of mechanisms of genotoxicity
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry would be a plus
  • A keen understanding of experimental design, underlying scientific principles and the ability to rigorously analyze and interpret complex data, and further, effectively document and communicate results
  • Demonstrated good team and networking skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills in English
  • Enthusiastic, innovative and science-oriented mindset

We also appreciate:

  • Working knowledge of various international regulatory guidances relevant to genotoxicology and drug development
  • Experience or knowledge in computational toxicology and structure-activity-relationship relevant to mutagenicity
