VTT – beyond the obvious.

With us you will be responsible for

Studying the isotopic content of emissions from complex biological processes, particularly from plant cell cultures. You will use an advanced optical method for the isotope on-line monitoring, and use the collected data to get insight about the processes and possibly optimise them. The work will include cultivation of suitable plant cell cultures (hetero-, mixotrophic), development of sampling methods, data analysis, and interpretation of the isotope data, which will be correlated to various biological processes. The work will be carried out in collaboration with VTT experts in plant biotechnology, optical detection methods, and data analysis.

We expect you to have

A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or engineering. Experience with with cell cultures, biochemical analysis methods and data analysis is beneficial. Proficiency in English is essential.

As a person you are

Highly motivated and committed to your project. You have the skills to work in cooperation with the researchers in your team and also independently when required.

We offer

We will offer you possibilities to develop your competence by working within a lively international atmosphere with challenging projects. You have the opportunity to demonstrate your suitability for future postgraduate studies and receive support from experienced researchers in the team. The chosen MSc thesis student will be paid a thesis fee instead of an employment contract.
