Typically, our customers’ challenges require several types of competences and methods combined in novel ways and therefore you will participate in several projects and work together with top experts in different project teams.
We are looking for a Master’s Thesis student at the final stages of her/his studies. The work can start as a summer job and later on continue with the Master’s Thesis work.
You will work in our fracture mechanical testing group which is a part of the Structural Integrity team in the Nuclear Energy research area. You will be involved in research projects through your M.Sc. thesis work. The goal is to develop experimental fracture mechanical methods and testing procedures, to investigate the fracture toughness properties and their connection to the material.
Main responsibilities:
• Master’s thesis on experimental fracture mechanics
• Participating in the experimental work
• Participating in the project work
• Development of fracture mechanical testing methods and procedures
We expect that you have an interest towards developing yourself as scientist and that you to have some know-how in fracture mechanics and mechanical testing methods. Good basic knowledge on mechanical engineering and/or material science with appropriate courses is expected to provide suitable background for further personal development and success in M.Sc. thesis work. Previous work experience in materials testing with metallic materials is not required but would be a significant asset.
- Studies in materials science/mechanical engineering
- Fracture mechanics and mechanical testing methods
- Basic skills in coding
- Strong background in mathematics and physics
- Fluent English and Finnish language
- Previous experience of working in a lab is seen as a benefit
As a person, you are willing to enhance and contribute to the research and development work on materials testing and you value high technical quality and systematic way of thinking. You have a good writing, collaboration and communication skills, and willingness and ability to work independently and to learn new things. You favour hands on working as well.
