M.Sc. Thesis On Autonomous Robotic Instruments
Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation is a part of Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering. A M.Sc. thesis position on autonomous robotic instruments is opened for Robotic Instruments Group (https://www.aalto.fi/department-of-electrical-engineering-and-automation/robotic-instruments) at the department.
The position is related to the commercialization of the award-winning Scanning Droplet Adhesion Microscope. The initial job is on automation software development for the newly invented robotic instrument. The position is available immediately. The salary is based on the university salary scheme.
After familiarizing with the instrument operations and automation, there is a possibility to continue the work in a doctoral study in autonomous robotic instruments using machine learning and other artificial intelligence techniques towards autonomous knowledge exploration.
Requirements and details
As a successful applicant, you should be highly motivated in developing practical systems and have a background in one or several of the following fields: robotics and automation, automation software, machine learning, software engineering, or closely related fields. The applicant is expected to have strong programming skills, hands-on experience and willing to work with robotics and mechatronic systems. Previous experience in one or some of the following areas is appreciated but not necessary:
- Reinforcement learning
- Mechatronic design and measurements
- Data analysis
- Signal processing
- Material and surface technology
