The aim of the Tampere University digipilot Machine Learning MOOC is to bring artificial intelligence skills within easy and flexible reach for the higher education community and outsiders alike. The MOOC consists of three parts: Introduction to Programming, Practical AI and Natural Language Machine Translation. The first two are targeted to people with a technical background seeking to deepen their skills in machine learning. The third is well-suited for those looking to know more about machine translation. The popularity of machine learning courses has grown tenfold during the past five years with hundreds of learners yearly. Through a digitalized study module more students can join the courses also when working full-time. 

Job description

At the heart of the MOOC is an automatically graded set of learning tasks available through a combination of Plussa and Moodle. We are looking for two (2) Research Assistants to implement these. The work is for the year 2020 and can be part time and include a full-time summer period.

Requirements

Your background can be a student in the University of Applied Sciences or a student in the University with most of your bachelor studies completed. Also a M.Sc. thesis is possible. You must be able to code in Python. Knowledge of version control and shell scripts is a plus.

We offer

The position will be filled for a fixed-term until December 31, 2020, with the possibility to extension based on progress. The expected starting date is in March.  A trial period of four (4) months applies to these positions.

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. The position of Research Assistant is placed on the job demand level 1 (the demand level chart for the teaching and research staff). In addition, employees will receive performance-based salary, which for Research Assistants is based on their stage of studies as well as study credits.

Tampereen yliopiston digipiloteissa tehtävä Koneoppimisen MOOC tuo tekoälyosaamisen kehittämisen korkeakouluyhteisön ja ulkopuolisten saataville helposti ja joustavasti. Koneoppimisen uusi kokonaisuus koostuu kolmesta osasta, jotka ovat ohjelmoinnin johdanto, käytännön tekoäly ja koneellinen kääntäminen. Kaksi ensimmäistä osuutta on suunnattu osaamisen syventämiseen teknisen taustan omaaville ja kolmas soveltuu hyvin erilaisille osallistujille, joiden tulee tietää enemmän koneellisesta kääntämisestä. Koneoppimiseen keskittyneiden kurssien suosio on kasvanut noin kymmenkertaisiksi viimeisten viiden vuoden aikana, ja on satoja oppijoita vuosittain. Kokonaisuutta digitalisoimalla useampi oppija pääsee osallistumaan, mikä palvelee paremmin myös työssä olevia oppijoita.  

Tehtävänkuvaus

MOOCin ytimessä on automaattiseen arviointiin perustuva tehtäväpankki, joka toimii Plussa- ja Moodle-alustojen yhdistelmässä. Etsimme näitä toteuttamaan kahta (2) tutkimusapulaista vuoden 2020 ajaksi. Työ voi olla osa-aikaista ja samalla sisältää täysipäiväisen kesätyöosuuden. 

Edellytykset

Taustaltasi voit olla AMK-opiskelija tai kandivaiheen loppupään opiskelija yliopistossa. Myös diplomityö on mahdollinen hankkeen aikana. Python-ohjelmointikielen tuntemus on välttämätöntä. Versionhallinnan ja shell-skriptien osaaminen lasketaan eduksi.
