Nokia Bell Labs is seeking Senior Specialists to work in our to work in our Standardization Research Lab. You will work in one of our teams defining the global 5G RAN architecture research as well as support 3GPP standardization work. A candidate should have expert knowledge on RAN mobile network architecture and strong research skills with outstanding analytical/theoretical capabilities and simulation experience. Successful candidates are expected to have research mindset, solve complex problems, analyze and prove the benefits of the concepts and contribute to the standardization of these concepts in 3GPP and other standardization bodies such as ETSI, IETF, BBF.
Main duties and responsibilities:
-Work in area of RAN2 and/or RAN3 standardization research including concept research work and writing 3GPP contributions.
-Pro-actively identify emerging topics in RAN research and standardization and possibly also drive internal discussions on technical concepts.
-Protect the work by invention reports, contribute to the implementation of inventions in standards, review of inventions from others.
-Support RAN system simulations by designing and developing simulation tools (C++/MATLAB) and models
Qualifications
- MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications engineering, Physics, or a related discipline. A PhD is a plus.
- Senior level expertise in wireless communication systems in areas of 3GPP RAN network architecture and protocols including standardization thereof.
- Experience in standardization work and IPR creation, track record of relevant IPRs and publications.
- Knowledge of simulation as a methodology and most common simulation tools and platforms (MATLAB, etc.).
- Ability to work autonomously on complex research issues.
