Last year OP began a fascinating cultural transformation, embarking on an overall path towards Agile, dubbed OP Ketterä. While we continue getting closer and closer to ‘tribe’ and team autonomy, our focus has simultaneously headed towards technical alignment and sustainable development, building a real engineering and developer culture. Less a bank and more a technology house, we have already been seeing tangible improvements and increased efficiencies, while our internal cohesion and fulfillment is actually, joyous! Imagine that.

Our target here is on sustainable development by building true ‘craftsmanship’ on teams in this Agile environment. We want all of our developers to be interested in testing, in automation, in our DevOps culture, in our Engineering Ops culture, especially in our DEVELOPER culture. As one of many DevOps Coaches, you are going to pioneer this. Logistically, you will be given a new team of OP employees to get to know and coach, every 5 weeks, with a thorough description of your role further down this page.
 
Agile Coaches (of which we have hired dozens upon dozens since last year and are indebted to already), are on more of a non-technical side of the fence. This DevOps Coaching role, is the deeper technical side, by reinforcing end-to-end responsibility. You will be key stakeholders and drivers for the technical part of this OP Ketterä.

As Tech Lead - DevOps Coach (reporting to Head of Engineering and DevOps) you are an ambassador of DevOps at an Enterprise level. You will be responsible for building DevOps capabilities in several ways, showing a hands-on example of modern software engineering, showing how to build micro services and cover them with intelligent automated testing. Essentially, coding and coaching CI/CD and related practices. AWS infrastructure is one of the playgrounds while traditional infrastructure and integrations play a big role still too. To be successful in the role, one need to be hands-on as well as hands-off. Coding and building scalable and modern solutions for the development community is the hands-on part, technical coaching and taking the solutions into use together with teams is the hands-off part.
 
Main responsibilities and expected outcomes:

•Member of Engineering and DevOps team and acting as a specialist and owner for certain areas of technical agility
•Responsible for automating the development processes, continuous integration, continuous delivery and enabling these practices by coaching teams in these areas
•Responsible for automating tools, environments, infrastructure automation and implementations of various integrations (IaC) and coaching teams in these areas
•Responsible for good development practices such as code reviews, clean code (SOLID), code quality, feedback cycles, small batches and coaching teams in these areas
•Responsible for coaching technical key stakeholders deep into technical agility and related development practices into the world of DevOps and real-time data
•Responsible for spreading superior knowledge and building up competences among the development community

Requirements, key professional competencies:

•Deep knowledge of Agile SW development and related practices and tools, DevOps, CI, CD
•Experienced in scripting and programming languages Python, Groovy, Shell, JavaScript, Java, Spring
•Experienced user of tools like GIT, Jenkins, Sonar, Robot, Maven, Gradle, JFrog, Elastic, Kibana
•Experienced in building tool integrations based on APIs in JIRA, Confluence, O365
•Experienced in building micro services and service virtualization (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
•Experienced in modern test automation, related practices, methods and tools
