Why you should apply

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our Discovery team that focuses on our users' first time experience of the product. Many of our users are people that are trying to learn to play an instrument for the first time in their lives. It's up to the Discovery team to help them make their first steps on this journey as smooth as possible with Yousician. As a Backend Developer in the team you'll get to make concrete changes in the app. You'll get a chance to affect how features will turn out starting from the prototyping phase all the way through A/B testing to a new feature released. You won't be just implementing tickets, but taking a part in the whole process.

What you’ll do

You’ll be working as a part of our agile Discovery team, with other developers and designers to create new features and tweak existing ones. This requires close collaboration with our team members, and often other teams. As a backend developer you’ll be involved in giving your input in all stages of projects as well as planning and implementing the actual backend work required to accomplish goals. You’ll need an in-depth understanding of how the Yousician app works to be able to design and architect the backend code to be smooth and fast in all cases whether it involves designing schemas for models/tables, helping integrate recommendation systems or ensuring the code scales. 

Who you are

• Strong knowledge of Python and related frameworks (ROR may also work as a replacement)
• To succeed in this job you should have experience in API development
• Strong familiarity with varying databases (preferably MongoDB)
• Experience working with cross-functional, agile teams
• Experience in A/B testing is a plus.
