About the position 

As a Database Specialist, (PostgreSQL/EDB, AWS RDS, Oracle) you together with OP Database Engineering team create and maintain highly available strategical database platforms with TCO objectives, operational models and support for OP in on-premise, private and public cloud. You participate in solution architecture decisions and you as a team are responsible for database road maps and licensing. Work environment is very international, as the team is virtual, and part of it located abroad. Database engineering Team functions as a Center of Excellence for Databases and therefore supports the whole OP Group. You as a DB Specialist, support all development teams, servicing them with configurations, deployments and servers.

At OP we put emphasis on Agile. Our teams utilize Scrum or Kanban based on their own needs. Agile ceremonies are followed, but common sense is used on implementation of them. That's why we hope that you enjoy working in a team and you are an active team member. Improving our practices is a task for us all. Sprints cycles are extended with quarterly planning session to improve the cooperation within the tribe and between the tribe.

OP is currently executing a large-scale DevOps transformation. Teams are improving solution architecture, automating CI/CD pipelines and taking in increasing amounts ownership of service operations. We embrace the 70:20:10 rule and reserve time for improving day-to-day working and learning. What we hope from you 

In this Specialist position you need to have previous work experience within Database environment. To succeed and thrive in this kind of environment, we hope you have:

• previous experience working with databases, especially with PostgreSQL/EDB, AWS RDS
• previous work experience with CloudFormation or Terraform (AWS)
• expertise from database automation environment
• familiarity with agile methods
• fluent communication skills in English, Finnish is an asset
