Thus far, you have worked as a software developer, architect, you’ve been an infrastructure specialist, a team lead. You know you are a technical manager in many ways, but you still want to <do>. At the beginning of 2019, we embarked on an ambitious company-wide Agile transformation, which has gone swimmingly. Then we added an important twist to concentrate on building a developer culture, thereby bringing technical alignment to our goal of autonomy. Now we have introduced an innovative and culturally necessary DevOps culture to everything we do, reinforced by our OP Engineering Principles, and 70-20-10 ways of working.

No niin:
Next year we are going through a huge migration from Tieto to TCS. After we do this migration, we will focus heavily on seeing how all the services we provide perform best, and in an Agile and DevOps way. We will automate things, we will increase our pace and speed at development, we will build autonomous services for tribes. We have a whole bunch of ideas to pursue on a software defined network, with flexibility and innovation on many things to come. You will get to play an active role in that direction. For now though, we need one person who can take part in discussions with our enterprise architects and Tribes for solution planning, making sure what solutions we are acquiring or creating adhere to OP principles.

Part of your role is to facilitate that bridge between tribes and enterprise architects, to own this. We hope you have had experience in some infrastructure security, and from end user systems as well. You are someone who has delivered or managed or acquired solutions related to capacity, network, major platforms, etc. And solution centricity! This will be key. You need to be able and willing to say No, this is against our current practice (for example).

We want and expect that you have seen it before, you have the collaborative skills, you have diplomacy. Naturally you will need to get to know OP quickly, answering why do we do security like this, why do we enforce this on private cloud, and build up knowledge rapidly to be involved intimately in our development practices.

And when thinking about some of these important but generic objectives, while you are running operations and ongoing services, you have to have services running with good reliability in these services. Then of course cost efficiencies are key. Another is automation in the coming years, and of course agility. Having these services as stable as possible and cost efficient, in an agile manner. You can do this : )

You will work together with our key specialists and IT Area Lead. You will create the roadmap for supporting our tech choices and will steer the development and infrastructure in general. We work well together (as said) and have a pretty good sense of humor. Actually we have fun together too, how about that!

Why would you want this job?
This is a very good opportunity to oversee the overall technical architecture at OP and what we are building and where we are going. Not just on one segment or on one Tribe, but all of them. This is tremendous variety, and you would be involved with quite many things.

Also, on the Finnish scale, this is one of the biggest production environments in Finland. We think it could be pretty interesting and exciting to be involved in this automation journey. Obviously we have very good resources to do things, so if you have a vision and know whats needed, and you are able to tell your story and justify this to others to do it, then you are able to get financing.

Requirements:
Excellent understanding of IT Infrastructure, including
Data communication
Servers
Workstations
Productivity services
Information security
Reliability engineering

10+ years of infrastructure experience, either from managing or delivering services, creating solutions, acquiring solutions, or being a part of defining a different solution. Not just capacity related private public cloud, but a whole set of services we will provide, private cloud, public cloud, on premises, mainframe is a big plus, networking, all major tech platforms.

Who are you
You have worked as Infrastructure Specialist and have moved into leadership
You have hands on experience, not just theoretical. You are primarily from finance, or then telecom etc where IT is an integral part of business
You have worked in a large and complex environment

Our Process this Summer:
