The part-time project manager position will be located at the Ecology and Genetics Research Unit in the Faculty of Science.


Description of the position

The NovelBaltic project (web page: centria.fi/novelbaltic) is part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme which is funded by European regional development fund. The goal of this international project is to increase the market uptake of natural products by developing quality and authentication methods which will be provided in a digital platform for enterprises.

University of Oulu is the lead partner of the project. The project manager will be required to manage the successful operation and delivery of the NovelBaltic project. He/she will manage and monitor the implementation of the project across the partnership, work packages, and activities. Hence, the project manager will be responsible of the day to day management and ensuring the delivery of appointed outputs and parameters within the given timescales. The project manager is also responsible of the coordination of financial resources. He/she also conducts the proper information flow and the continuous communication between the Interreg BSR Programme, project partners, and other stakeholders. Project manager is responsible of the timely reporting of the project to financiers. Moreover, the position may include some travelling as the project manager organizes the project meetings and participates also to other events.

The part-time position is scheduled to be filled for the period from 26.10.2020 to 30.9.2021.


Requirements

An appropriate doctoral or master’s degree. The appointee must have experience in the management of international projects and be fluent in English. Management of projects under the EU Interreg funding Programme is greatly appreciated. The appointee must have good knowledge and understanding of project compliance, monitoring, and evaluation. Excellent collaborative working and communication skills are mandatory, as well as proactive, independent, and participative way of working.


Salary

Salary will be based on level 8 on the requirement level chart for “other staff” in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition to the basic salary, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance with a maximum of 50% of the basic salary. The full salary of the part-time job is approximately 1450 euros per month. The position is subject to a trial period of 4 months.
