We are looking for a new Group Controller to join our global Finance team in Helsinki. This is an exciting time to join our Finance team, as we are progressing fast in our IFRS conversion project, where you will be a key player in shaping our future IFRS reporting function.

In this role, you’ll play a key role in our  IFRS conversion and internal controls projects, while developing our Group accounting and reporting process in compliance with IFRS and other local regulation. As our Group Controller you will own the preparation of financial statements (both IFRS and FAS), managing external audits, and ensuring financial controls. You will also participate in the monthly & quarterly accounting close process, ensuring timely availability of financial data for reporting purposes.

As a Group Controller at Smartly.io, you will:

    • Be in charge of our IFRS conversion project and producing our first IFRS financial statements, which will be finalised for FY20 and later be in charge of quarterly IFRS reporting and producing IFRS numbers
    • Partner with our auditors to ensure efficient audit processes
    • Monitor the monthly financials and group consolidation process for Smartly.io Group
    • Harmonise the accounting processes and ways of working throughout our subsidiaries
    • Take a big role in planning and leading the in-housing of our subsidiary accounting from our current external service providers abroad
    • Work on further improving our monthly accrual processes
    • Innovate on new ways of working and lead different accounting tool implementation processes
    • Work actively with the outsourced service providers around the world to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of our financial accounting throughout the group
    • Take ownership of different tax related processes and projects such as transfer pricing, withholding tax, foreign VAT matters etc.

We're definitely looking for you if you:

    • Have relevant working experience in auditing, IFRS consulting, accounting or similar
    • Possess a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
    • Are fluent in both FAS and IFRS, knowledge of US GAAP is considered an advantage
    • Have worked on an IFRS conversion project and/or done IFRS reporting before
    • Have solid organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and co-operate with the team to execute in a fast-paced environment
    • Are detail and result oriented, comfortable working in collaborative settings, and have an eye for continuously automating and improving processes
    • Are fluent in using MS Office (Excel) and Google Sheets
    • Are comfortable using English and Finnish in a work context
    • Prior knowledge in Netsuite ERP system is considered an advantage
